7th European Conference on ICT for Transport Logistics (ECITL) will be focus on “ICT drives transport logistics cooperation”

More than other businesses, transport logistics relies on innovative Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). For example, ICT enhances logistics stakeholder abilities for active cooperation in supply chains. Also, through the shared and provided set of data, ICT is recognized as the most important enabler for logistics innovation and allows to create and maintain competitive advantage.

As every year, the ECITL picks-up hot future topics in transport logistics and supply chain and provides a platform where experts from industry and research meet and discuss these imperatives. This year, the conference will focuses on how ICT drives transport logistics innovation and cooperation and will deep in topics as intelligent cargo, secure communication in logistics, e-freight common framework, etc. The goals of this year’s conference are to identify and discuss the following main topics.
  • Opportunities and advantages of increased application of ICT
  • Innovations for the future in transport logistics cooperation, which ICT can create
  • ICT as enabler for innovative and green logistics
  • Co-operative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS)
  • Neglected areas, where ICT do not provide sufficient service and how it could be improved
  • Enhanced information exchange opportunities through ICT
  • Safety & Security in logistics as well as ICT as enabler of safety & security
  • Safe and secure data exchange
The ECITL 2014 consists of a Scientific Day and two Industry Days:
  • Scientific Day – 05th of November 2014, 12:00 am
    The Scientific Day is the opening session of the ECITL 2014. Innovative concepts and research results in the field of ICT for Transport Logistics and Supply Chain Management will be presented. Each presenter will have a slot of 20 minutes plus 10 minutes of discussion.

  • Industry Days – 06th & 07th of November 2014, 09:00 am
    The Industry Day is organized in Plenary Sessions (Executive Sessions) and Parallel Sessions.
    • - Plenary Sessions (Executive Sessions)
      In Plenary Sessions chosen innovation issues in the field of ICT for Transport Logistics and Supply Chain Management will be presented by key personalities from the European Commission and European Projects.
    • - Parallel / Special Interest Sessions
      The Parallel Sessions are tailor-made and focusing on the special interests of the participants of the ECITL. These sessions delve into industrial projects and offer new perspectives, approaches and insight.
The target groups of the ECITL are all stakeholders and investors who are involved in the field of Transport Logistics, Supply Chain Management and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

The official language of the conference is English.

The ECITL is co-organized by Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences (FHV), the EffizienzCluster LogistikRuhr and the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics and is supported by different European Projects in the field of Logistics and ICT. The conference is an instrument which is supported and encouraged by the European Union. The conference will take place in Dortmund (Germany).

Contributed scientific papers may deal with, but are not limited to the following topics:

  • Fostering collaboration and synergies alongside supply chains with ICT

  • ICT in Logistics: New solutions and approaches / ICT as enabler for innovative and green logistics
  • Semantic Frameworks and Paperless Freight
  • Applications of ICT in Transport Logistics / ICT solutions to support multimodal, synchromodal operations and customer integration solutions
  • Data exchange / open data / data protection
  • Semantic Framework in Logistics
  • Risk Management & Business Continuity
  • Resistant supply chains: robustness and resilience in transport logistics

A submission as scientific paper must be accompanied by a digital presentation and a poster if accepted for the conference. Below are the respective guidelines:
  • Scientific Paper
    The Scientific Paper (between 3500 – 5000 words) must include:
    • Title of paper
    • Name(s) of authors
    • Full postal address, telephone, fax and e-mail address
    • Abstract (max 300 words)
    • Keywords (max 10 words)
    • Introduction
    • Conclusion and Outlook
    • Reference List
    Submission Deadline: 31.07.2014 // Submission Address: info@ecitl.eu – The decision regarding acceptance will be made by the end of September 2014. Authors must intend to register for and attend the conference to present the paper if it is accepted
  • Digital presentation:
    The presentation should consist of maximal 10 slides (excl. cover sheet, content and back cover sheet). The presentation time is maximal 20 minutes.
